1.    There’s something in the water:

Let alone The Lochness Monster; Manipogo, Ogopogo and Winipogo are just a few of the creatures that are said to inhabit the lakes in Quebec, Manitoba, Winnipeg etc. You might want to think twice before talking the boat out or going for a swim now.

2.    Watch out for Polar bears:

We do not want to scare you away but, consider yourselves warned when we say these lovable mammals will not hesitate to make you their meal. Located sparsely across Canada, they are known to attack their prey ferociously so, keep your distance.

3.    Paranormal Activity:

Ah, Montreal, your beautiful architecture is a great disguise but we know you hide some skeletons in your closet. Souls of the misfortunate reside in old Montreal, take the Saint Gabriel for example, who a little girl burned by fire calls her home.

4.    The tunnels scream:

Niagara Falls is famous for captivating tourists but, would you believe that there is a 125-foot passage which homes the soul of a young girl who mysteriously died there. Not convinced, light a match after midnight and watch it extinguish, brace your ears for what’s next.

5.    Ghost Ship Alert:

There are numerous tales of haunted ships. However, a burning ship can only be seen in the Northumberland Straits, setting ablaze the path it sails.

6.    Dorothy:

Hockey is notably Canada’s most cherished sport; the hockey hall of fame however hosts more than just visitors. Here resides Dorothy, a dispirited soul, who lost her love and later her life in the 2nd floor restroom.

 7.    Don’t look back when you hear the bushes rustle:

We hear loup garou, the merciless werewolf trails the La Belle province pouncing on unsuspecting campers and hunters who dare.

8.    Unemployed?

An occupation that does not go out of style and is employing more and more people annually is that of a funeral director. Canada had about 14,000 people employed in the funeral industry in 2010 alone and with the demand growing, numbers are expected to hit the fan.

9.    Who says ghosts don’t exist?

The hose and hound pub in Calgary is notorious for its supernatural experience. Namely, Barney the monkeys ghost is said to be the cause of mischief and scares throughout the premises.

10.                       Crime time:

You wouldn’t expect the streets of Canada to be lurking with masked men with vendettas. But, here’s a fact Halloween calls for crime; gun violence, disturbances and trespassing increases 51% on the 31st of October.

11.                       Grave Park

You might want to rethink stomping on grass in Kingston, Ontarios McBurney Park because just 6 feet under lie the resting places for Kingstons dead of the 19th century. To grow the population density of this area, a park was built on top of a burial ground to add appeal to the area. However, skeleton park is known for spooking visitors.

12.                       Serving time just got spookier

Haunted houses just got old fashioned, spend a night in a haunted jail cell at the HI-Ottawa Jail Hostel. Formerly, here lived prisoners counting their days and some breathing their last breaths.
