Guide Canada: How to Survive Deadly Ice & Wind Storm!

An eye blinking and freezing climate is what we have been experiencing since the weekend, Ice storm is alarming and can cause an affecting situation associated with travelling.

The entire situation is freezing and nail biting.  Heavy rainfall with heavy wind storm is just too much to handle.

Here are some guidelines and points to keep in mind and to keep yourself safe from this dreadful weather.

1.FREEZING RAIN CAN BE HAZARDOUS, EVEN IF YOU STAY INDOORS

The prescribed and poured heavy rain is freezing and dangerous. It can cause power failure accidental hazards; the effects produce may continue their selves up to long lasting period.

In December 2013, couple of them died and majority were exhausted and ill during an ice storm blackout in southern Ontario.

The presence of a gas Carbon monoxide poisoned many of them who were using gas-powered generators and charcoal barbeques to warm their living spaces. 

Some precautions and steps should be taken to solve these problems are mentioned as follow.

Replace malfunctioned and older electronics, and assures a safe heat source, and have flashlights, batteries and candles on hand.

The first aid medical box should be there in case of any emergency

2. BEWARE OF FALLING ICE

The chilled and freezing temperature can cause accidental and mouth chocking incidents while driving when there is drizzling snow continuously.

The distance should be kept from other vehicles and get you self-awaken from surroundings and environment.  

3. WIND CAN MAKE AN ICE STORM EVEN WORSE

The gusts revolving around at speed of 60 km/h in some places of southern Ontario region.

The extension of ice can be increased through large no of an area and produce some unexpectable conditions.

The sliced pieces of ice can hardly effect someone by falling from building and trees, sending them crashing to the ground with little-to-no warning.

4.EXPECT DELAYS AND PACK ACCORDINGLY

The roads may become slippery and distorting to the environment. The disturbance can cause a pessimistic turn down in traffic. Fallen debris, like tree branches or power lines, can cause road and lane closure.        

Consider packing blankets, bottled water and a first-aid kit when heading out on the road this week. Make sure your phone is fully charged.
